Yes Intel is aware of this issue. Please retest using our latest LAN driver version 19.0 release, available from our Download Center, and let us know if this driver helps resolve your issue. Thanks!

Intel X540-T1 stops reponding

Hello,

I have an Intel X540-T1 NIC installed in one of our servers that is exhibiting the problem outlined in the FreeBSD problem report kern/183390.  The link to the problem report is as follows....

kern/183390: [ixgbe] 10gigabit networking problems

We are using the latest available version of the driver (2.5.15).  I'm wondering when a newer version of the FreeBSD driver for this NIC will be released that resolves the issue described in the previously mentioned problem report.  Basically, the NIC stops responding after moderate to heavy traffic load and the only way to solve the problem is to bring the interface down and then back up.  I look forward to any suggestions about this issue.  And hope Intel will take a good look at the problem and release a new version of the driver that solves it.  Thank you.

Regards,

Eric

I have the exact same problem on a T410.  I had just loaded a driver and was running a speed test, and the connection started going up and down very quickly over and over.  When I rebooted the machine, the interface has never worked since.  I uninstalled and reinstalled every driver that would work, and always get the same error code 10 cannot start.  why is the original question unanswered for over 1 year?

10GE TX/RX performance issues

Hi,

We have a number of Intel 82599EB 10-Gigabit dual port NICs running in a number of servers.  On a couple of these servers, we are seeing very strange behaviour where when connecting via a Brocade 1G/10G switch from a 1G server we are getting line speed RX (113MB/s) but only a fraction of this TX, for example:

# ./netperf -H XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX -f M
MIGRATED TCP STREAM TEST from 0.0.0.0 (0.0.0.0) port 0 AF_INET to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX () port 0 AF_INET
Recv   Send    Send
Socket Socket  Message  Elapsed
Size   Size    Size     Time     Throughput
bytes  bytes   bytes    secs.    MBytes/sec

2097152  65536  65536    10.14     113.16

# ./netperf -H XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX -f M -t TCP_MAERTS
MIGRATED TCP MAERTS TEST from 0.0.0.0 (0.0.0.0) port 0 AF_INET to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX () port 0 AF_INET
Recv   Send    Send
Socket Socket  Message  Elapsed
Size   Size    Size     Time     Throughput
bytes  bytes   bytes    secs.    MBytes/sec

87380 2097152 2097152    10.00      20.38

We have another server with the same card and that behaves as expected (line speed both TX and RX).  As far as I can tell all network configs are the same on both boxes.  We've tried different switch, cable, OS and server hardware.

Am I missing something really obvious here?!

Thanks,

Chris

the same thing happens on Linux on drivers 3.11.33-k and 3.18.7.  I hope Intel fixes this soon.

I am having a similar issue.  I have a Dell E6540 with the I27-LM and I am using Ghost Console.  I have loaded the driver (version 19) from \\PROWin32\PRO1000\Win32\NDIS62 into my WinPE folder, but upon pulling the original stock image from the Dell I am getting a 127.0.0.1 IP address.  I have seen this before with Ghost due to a driver that is not working.  Ghost only likes Vista x86 drivers; however the I27-LM does not have a Vista driver.  Any Ideas?  I am trying other versions of this Intel driver (18.7 and 18.6) but it seriously takes 10 minutes to load each driver into Ghost, so I will be around.

Ethertype/length field with i350 NIC

$

Hello,

The PRO/1000 PF Dual Port Server Adapter ignores the content of the 2-octet length field in the Ethernet frame. Its successor, the Ethernet Server Adapter I350-F2, however, does care about it. If the actual packet length exceeds it, the card seems to simply drop the packet (the packet doesn't make it to the driver).

Is it possible to make the i350 ignore this field just as the old PRO/1000 did? I'd like it not to drop the suspicious packets.

Thank you.

10G 82599EB Issue

Hi,

We have a Supermicro server with 10G Card (82599EB 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+) , ixgbe version 3.18.7 and running Debian 6.  We are noticing something strange happening with the networking service. The service is going down randomly without any cause. The issue can recreated by running ethtool -t <eth>

Found the following on the logs:

Mar 20 23:41:59 <host> kernel: [ 2792.727776] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready

Mar 20 23:42:03 <host> kernel: [ 2796.802635] ixgbe 0000:05:00.0: eth1: detected SFP+: 3

Mar 20 23:42:04 <host> kernel: [ 2796.926539] ixgbe 0000:05:00.0: eth1: NIC Link is Up 10 Gbps, Flow Control: RX/TX

Mar 20 23:42:04 <host> kernel: [ 2796.927353] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready

Mar 20 23:42:14 <host> kernel: [ 2807.512585] eth1: no IPv6 routers present

When we debugged further, we found that the default route is getting disappeared somehow and shows up only after a network restart. From this forum , we suspected that "LRO " is causing the issue. We disabled it by:

ethtool -K <eth> lro off

which didn't fix. I also tried compiling ixgbe with 'CFLAGS_EXTRA="-DIXGBE_NO_LRO"' which also didnt help.

Can someone help with this case?

Thanks,

Trouble adding Intel i350-T4 PCI-e card to server with onboard i350-T4 LOM

Hi !

We are having trouble adding a i350-T4 card to the Cisco UCS c250 M3 with onboard i350 LOM

It is caught in an infinite loop unless we disable onboard LOM - other posts on the Internet raises a flag when it comes to combining onboard LOM with PCI-e cards.

All firmware is updated and all option ROMs are disabled for all Cards, PXE disabled with bootutil 19.0

We did test the following

Moved Intel NIC from PCI-e slot 5 to PCI-e slot2

Disabled all option ROM in BIOS (booting ESX from SD CARD)

Onboard LOM disabled in BIOS = boot / external NICs detected

Onboard LOM enabled in BIOS + PCI-e i350-T4 = no boot - system hangs

Onboard LOM enabled in BIOS = boot / internal NICs detected

Card is on Cisco whitelist page 225 http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/interoperability/matrix/r_hcl_C_rel1-53d.pdf

But since its not Cisco branded our local Cisco REP wont raise a TAC :-(

Enable Wake on Magic Packet Intel 82579lm NIC

$

I am looking to deploy a wake on lan solution to one of the sites that I manage.  I have found a VBscript that takes care of most adapters, but not Intel 82579lm adapters.

I followed some very helpful information from this thread: https://communities.intel.com/thread/19132 and changed the commands to reflect wake on magic packet.  Unfortunately I keep getting a failure message.  The thread that I was using for reference was for a different model Intel NIC, but I hopped that it would work.

Does anyone have any guidance in enabling wake on magic packet via command line and prosetcl.exe for Intel 82579lm adapters?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Simon,

I have a similar problem as I just bought a computer from Quietpc with this board Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H and although I have not confirmation from any source I suspect it has a network controller for desktop only OS.

I want to run Windows Server 2012 R2 and would like to know which NDIS directory I should look for, the NDIS63 or NDIS64.

I have downloaded the CD version of Intel network adapters, and I will be looking into PRO1000 folder.  Is this the right place for this board?

Thank you for your very helpful support.

Ok, Solved it.  The same command line syntax works for the 82579lm adapters.  Its just a fragile driver if you have both the GUI open and make changes via the commandline.

82579LM NIC won't come up when connected to 10gig copper port

Hello

I have a Lenovo W520 with 82579LM installed with the latest driver (IntelPro 19, driver version 12.10.28.0).

I am trying to connect it with a 10gBaseT copper port on a router and it won't come up.

The link is flapping constantly and changing between enabled/uplugged.

I realize this is a 1gig NIC but should it auto-negotiate and come up with 1gig (it is set to autoneg on both sides) ?. It has no issue connected to a 1gig copper port.

However I have used other Intel 1gig NICs (82578DM and 82576LM) and they don't have any issue connecting to this 10gig copper port.

Is there anything that I can dump to check out why ?

Note: the i350 1gic seems to have the same behavior but it's intermittent..

Thanks in advance,

KJ

X540-T2 Issues (iscsi)

Hi,

I recently updated a 2012 HyperVisor Server from GB iSCSI NIC to a X540-T2 NIC for use with iSCSI.

The System has onboard I350 Nics which I use for the LAN.

Initially I just allowed windows to install best driver (And I presume use the already installed v18 Proset)  Things were fine for around 18 hours.

Then I got an event log from IXBGT event ID 56 stating that "Intel(R) Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X540-T2 The network driver has been stopped because the network adapter has been removed." - This brought down all the VM's and although device manager was seeing the NIC's and the NIC's had lights on, they were marked as disabled and could not be re enabled.

After a restart all was fine and then it happened again, around 18 hours later.

I updated the BIOS on the server and attempted to install the latest V19 driver package (changing virtual switch to internal beforehand)

Although the install stated it went ok, immediately it was noticed that performance was poor, and now I cannot see any advanced options within the NIC's - the pane states: "Your Device / OS combination does not support any VLAN advanced settings."  (It's not on any VLANs)

The driver on the NIC now shows 05/12/2013 version 3.8.35.0

I will have another out of hours maintenance window soon, what's going on and what should I do ?

Thanks for you advice!

OK, since this isn't working and I was unable to find a proper way of contacting Intel for help, could somebody please PM me with support contact details, (premium is fine) ?

I only want to ask the disti channel for help as a last resort.

Round and round.

We resell several 100k  (GBP) of intel kit every year the least I would expect is a phone number or email address. when i get to this stage. or a reply on a 'forum'

I suppose never having been unable to find a solution in the past is kudos to the products.  But FM! have I gone off them now.

hang on as I was writing that.... the screen changed.  I suppose it is just a crap JS / AJAX website (I am sitting on a GB connection here with an twin i7 so I doubt it's my end.  After the time it took to type the message about the screen went to the next blue arrow,

So the answer is 'patience'

Cheers.
